Yes, I was, and I have the poker trophy and the male college roommates to prove it. When I read Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl, I felt a little too pegged by the passage Tracy Moore quotes here on Jezebel:
As a framing device for this podcast episode, I think MK’s probing my Cool-Girl origins is pretty on point. I was definitely a cool enough girl to roll my eyes at the Taylor Swift of the day, and I was just as susceptible to the deployment of pseudo-intellectual takes for the sake of proving my coolness as the next Cool Girl. MK and I break that down a little in this episode, and if you’re wondering what this has to do with running, click here for the show notes and SUBSCRIBE, because everything is about running (except the running, which is never about the running).
The Morning Mantra podcast has fired back up in full force since MK returned from her vacation, and I am most proud of the episode I recorded in honor of the U.S. Women’s National Team winning the World Cup last week. Soccer has never been my sport, but I think it might be now. Inspired by a breathtaking article in the Washington Post, I wanted to recognize how powerful it has felt to watch these women use their platform to advocate for themselves and for women everywhere. One of my favorite Morning Mantras yet.
